AUGUST 2016 - AUGUST 2018

Week 8 . . .  Craziest week of my life so far!

Well, 8 weeks down!! Yeah  It really feels like I’ve been here for an eternity and at the same time not. This week was so freaking weird.  I don’t even know how to explain it. I will just start off by saying that holy balls people here drink soooo much soda and eat soooo much rice. I really don’t know how they do it. They go through at least a 3 liter bottle of soda per day and then eat probably a thousand pounds of rice. haha I had to tell them I need like half of the food they give me. DON’T WORRY I’m not returning home fat! I work out every morning so coming home cut as lean meat plus I walk like 40 miles a day so you know I'll finally have that butt I always wanted. haha

My comp is awesome and he is really helping me so much with my Spanish. He is from Chic Layo, Peru and has 20 months in the mission so I will be his last companion.  All day everyday I am working hard on learning Spanish because it really sucks not being able to talk with people and understand what is being said.  I haven’t sucked this bad at anything since the time I went on that 1 year plus losing streak to Drew in ping pong. haha I’m learning though so all is good here. I am starting to teach an English class tomorrow so lets hope that goes well. hahaha  Other than that, I just walk around and contact people. We had 220 contacts in the last 2 weeks so it’s been good. People are finally letting us come to their houses to teach so all is good there.

Holy Balls, this last Friday was crazy. The worst experience of my life so far. We were going over to an investigators house to teach them and when we got there the ladies mom was dying.  My comp and I gave her a blessing really quick and then helped take her to the hospital. When we got there I had to carry her into the hospital and I felt the life slowly leave her body. It honestly was the worst feeling I’ve ever had. I just found the best reason to work hard on learning the language because I felt so bad I couldn’t say much to comfort her. We spent a lot of time cleaning and doing service for their family. Then my comp and I shared a lesson about El Plan de Salvación and they were just bawling the whole time. It was so hard! Then after that, another one of our investigators moms bit the dust. It was really awful. Other than that not much happened but that was enough for me.

It was a fast week and wow I loved the package. Dipping those peanut butter crackers into Nutella has saved mi vida. hahahaha I don’t know why I didn’t do it before.  All is good here and things really aren't too bad. The weather is cash! Everyday it's the same haha but people hear think it's so cold. The weather is similar to San Diego.  Pretty much the same year round.  It's so crazy, this internet cafe is filled with a bunch of 40 year old virgins droppin bombs and playing computer games! hahahaha So kind of weird here.   Give Gramps a big hug for me.  I know he is having a tough time and I am keeping him in my prayers.

Love and miss you guys!  Keep on doing you!
