WEEK 21 . . .  Skype is the greatest!

It was great skyping yesterday!  I told you everything I did so there's not much to write about. Everyone looks great!  Man, I miss home and Christmas in the states!  Dad, have a Happy Birthday this week!  We don't really have any plans for today.   We are just hanging out and probably with the same misioneros as yesterday. jaja

* Moms note:  We had a great talk with Hunter on Christmas day.  After a couple hours of trying to get a good connection, we were able to skype with him at around 3:30 pm.  He is doing great!  This past week he was busy spreading Christmas cheer through out Arequipa in his Santa hat.  Doing a little caroling, a mission Christmas party and ward party. He was well fed with 2 dinners on Christmas Eve and 2 on Christmas day so that made us feel better.  His pensionestta is taking very good care of him and was there with a hug when it was time to hang up and it was getting a little hard to say good bye.  He is serving with a great group of Elders. We had the chance to visit with his comp and 2 other Elders from Florida and Chile. They all have such a great spirit about them and are busy doing the Lords work!

WEEK 20 . . .  Feliz Navidad!!!

FRRREEEEEAKKKKK. I miss the States! jajaja You don’t really appreciate something until you don’t have it. The states are soooo much better.  I know it’s just the time of year but I just want to watch basketball and go snowboarding soooo bad.  Freak, I knew that this would happen when I left the home! The jazz would go on a rampage and I’d miss it but I know I have stuff that I need to do here. I know that but pucha  I’d kill to be home for NAVIDAD!!!

This week was fine nothing really happened. So there’s really nothing to email you guys about. jaja All of our citas cancelaron and we didn’t find any new investigadores or anything. jajaja  My area is far from receptive to the gospel. People just seem way to busy and aren't really interested in change. We have just been lucky and found a lot of cool people that are receptive. For example, this week we contacted 150 people and touched probably like 400 doors or algo asi but didn’t find squat! Jaja It’s fine, were just working hard trying to find people. It’s tough though because every guy here drinks from the time they wake up to when they go to bed sooooooo we deal with a lot of drunk people. For some reason though they love the misioneros so it’s nice. We only had a couple incidentes with the drunks that were getting in our face. jaja  Other than that nothing really happened.  Oh, I did find a dog. Her name is Kyra and she’s pretty sick. She is my homie and follows us everywhere. No one messes with us now! jajaja.

Sunday I gave a talk in sacrament meeting on the atonement and repentance so that was sick.  All the people told me that I almost had perfect Spanish and only had a few parts that were choppy so that was good. Today for p-day we are going caroling en la Plaza de Armas! So that will be sweet and I will get some cool pics. We are going to have a party in the mission and one for the ward.  Also, our zone party el 24th.  It should be fun and we are pretty stoked for that.  We wear our hats everyday and people think they are pretty funny.

Well familia love ya miss ya!!!  I am soooo excited to talk to you on NAVIDAD!!!  I think it will be around 3 pm my time.  Check your email just incase anything changes.

WEEK 19 . . . Alpaca's are REAL!

This week was sweet!!

We had a baptism with one of our favorite investigadores and he is such a stud.  It was really cool to see him follow through on this compromiso. BUT, we honestly had 0 luck this week jaja Nothing was going our way until Friday. Friday was awesome! jaja We found an investigador that has listened to the misioneros for 4 years and NOTHING HAS HAPPENED WITH HIM. Until Friday. . . jaja  Yahhhh We were the chosen misioneros here in Arequipa. He finally accepted a date and he is going to be baptized this month! So that is awesome and he is honestly a great guy.  He has just had a lot of doubts in the past but we were able to answer his questions and take away some of those doubts! His name is Juan Carlos and he has 50 years.  So you know there is a time for everyone right?  Our family of 11 is awesome. They’re the family that we did the family night for and we made cookies.  The cookies were awesome and they loved them! What can I say, I have the gift of baking too Mom! This week we are going to make peanut butter bars with them. jajaja They want to make more food from the states and I don’t blame them.  It is so much better than the food here. jaja. I haven’t had a solid poop in like 4 months. Can someone help a brother out??? I eat plenty but the food here kills my stomach. I’ve had 2 stomach infections and think I have another one right now. It’s part of the mission life, right! I work out as much as I can but I feel so out of shape. It’s terrible! I have a little layer of fat on my stomach now and it’s terrible.  I’m starting to fill out on the muscles though. jaja  I still am down on the pounds.  The treats in my package saved my life. YOU HAVE NO IDEA. jajaja  The best thing of my freaking life! I already ate the cookies and muddie buddies and yah opening a present a day makes my day so much better jaja.  I LOVE IT! The holidays are tough on the mish but those things make it so much easier, THANKS!

Right now we are finally finding more people to teach. We have 5 fechas (dates) this month for baptism and are hoping to take out 2 more this week with this other family that we are teaching. The teaching really has been good here though. This morning we went to the World of Alpacas jajajaja I wanted to see the alpacas. I was starting to think that they didn’t exist. NEVER SEEN THEM BEFORE but now I know they are REAL! jaja  We went with a family in the ward and had so much fun.  Then we went to La Plaza de Armas  again and had lunch. Good day good day!!! jaja.

No snow there right now?? I miss the snow so much holy balls! jaja  Good thing the mountains are getting snow though.  I have to say, Christmas blows on the mission but we are really trying to have fun with it. Oh, I’m going to send a package next week for Christmas for you guys. I don’t think it will get there in time but hope you like it.

The Spanish is coming a long nicely. I understand just about all of what people say to me but pucha speaking is the worst. I feel like I'm speaking right but at times people just look at me like "Why are you here?" jaja  That’s always the worst but they understand that I only have 4 months so it's all good. Well that’s the week!

Love you guys and keep going ham and enjoy the week!

WEEK 18 . . . #LightTheWorld

Haha... Writing is so hard. I can’t remember ENGLISH!

What’s going on with me, it’s so weird. I’ve forgotten so many words it’s crazy!  But for real - I think, dream, sleep talk, and write in Spanish right now so when I go to email it’s like what’s up with this. Not going to lie I think I understand probably like 90% of what goes down in this place so poco a poco! I am really working with the speaking part of it right now and everything. It’s tough at times especially when I don’t have a comp that speaks Spanish to help me out. haha  So you know how I am, I just talk a lot with the people here to practice.  Who knows some day I’ll get it all down!

I got my packages and holy nuts that was the best thing I’ve ever gotten in my life!  Mom, will you send me the recipe for the cookies.  I am going to do a family home evening with our investigators and make cookies with them. It looks like I’m not getting transferred. I spoke with the Pres and we decided that I’m keeping myself here in Alto Misti with the green pea! I’m going to finish his training and so I’m actually pretty stoked about that. He is a stud and I like to train and to be able to lead and teach them to work hard.  The Pres said we have the best numbers in the mission so why break up a good thing.  Sometimes it get’s a little frustrating but hey nothings going to be easy right?  We also had 2 baptisms on Saturday and we have another one tomorrow and another one Saturday!!  WHATT!!!  So that’s what went down here!
As for this week! This week was pretty sick. We’ve been contacting a bunch to find people who are ready to listen to what we have to say. Contacted another 120 people this week and found some sweet investigadores here so that’s good right! We have a family of 11 that we found last week so we’re working to get them dunked. They are called the family Ochecheque and are super cool. We are hoping to take out the dates for them this week. We’re only teaching 4 of them right now but I think we’ll be able to get the rest of the family encouraged so that will be awesome! We have a fossil here that we found that wants to be baptized too! haha He’s a really good guy and has like 72 years or something like that.  We set a goal for him this month for the 31st of December so let’s get that done! Other than that we’ve not had a lot of luck with the people. haha. There are so many people here that just look at us like we’re sent by satan and say they want nothing. These Catholics are freaking hard. No worries though, we’re working hard and going ham!! We did proselyting in our Santa and Elf hats you sent this week everyday so heck yah lots of people laughed! haha.  Also we had our day of service at the temple grounds here in Arequipa.  We are helping get it prepared for the ground breaking and construction. We planted 300 trees!  I think they are breaking ground the first part of January but I’m not sure.  It is going to be pretty sweet to have a temple in Arequipa.  Well, that’s the week!!! No mas! haha

Have fun this week everyone and get out and do service!  Love and miss you! #Lighttheworld
